RUSSELL N. REITZ, PHARM. D. - CEO/PHARMACY DIRECTOR- FOUNDER
Russell Reitz serves as Chief Executive Officer and Pharmacy Director of Aerosol Science® Laboratories, Inc. and manages the development and ongoing clinical operations of the business. He is also jointly responsible in designing the documentation necessary for approval of provisional patents for the future protection and growth of the business. He leads the management team responsible for growth in sales, corporate profitability, and cash flow to the business.
Russell received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific and extended his training completing residency courses in the treatment infectious diseases and oncology medicine while attending the University of California, San Francisco, and Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center located in San Francisco. In October 2003, he sold his successful consulting, Management Company providing clinical, and business operations management to 8 infectious disease practices and 1 medical oncology practice located throughout the United States. His responsibilities to each practice included business growth, P & L financial analysis, contracting, coding/pricing of therapies, designing medication protocols and human resource management. He was required to provide a financial and an operations analysis for each business monthly, recommending, and implementing changes as required.
He frequently presented to regional insurance companies outlining the results of the documented clinical and financial outcomes he designed. The physician directed infusion model clearly demonstrated the enormous savings that could be achieved by the insurance companies. An integral part of the success he achieved working with physician practices was implementing the unique Medication Administration Models he developed. Therapy profits can fluctuate greatly based on the medication prescribed, the method of administration, and the supplies used to deliver the specific medication. A profitable practice will make the necessary adjustments for each therapy based upon the specific payor plan.
Prior to starting his company in 1993, his management experience included the position of Regional General Manager for Baxter Healthcare Corporation. Promoted to this position from sales management, Russell was directed to return profitability to his assigned region. Responsibilities included development of new business opportunities, sales growth of existing accounts, cash collections, and profit growth for office locations in Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Santa Barbara, Monterey and Fresno counties. During his 4 years in this position, he constructed partnerships with physician practices specializing in infectious diseases and oncology representing 30% of total annual revenues exceeding 32 million dollars. Directing a team of nine managers and 87 staff members he accomplished the directives from Baxter's senior management within 14 months and subsequently increased profits every year.
Russell recently owned a consulting and management business that provided services to pharmaceutical corporations that desire to establish their medications in alternate site settings. In addition, 4 infectious disease practices have requested his ongoing involvement assisting in the management of their centers. New projects include start-up infusion centers for 2 surgical practices and a "turn around" project for an existing infectious disease practice. Profitability and cash collection goals for these 3 new offices include 32% net profit as a percent of cash collected and for all 3 practices to achieve break-even status within 150 days of the beginning of operations. Mr. Reitz's key areas of responsibility include: Purchasing, Clinical and Pharmaceutical as well as Shipping and Receiving.
